📖 Considerations for Working with Couples

At Ruh Care, we’re committed to supporting therapists in delivering ethically sound, Islamically aligned, and clinically responsible care — including when working with couples. Below are important considerations to keep in mind when providing couple’s therapy through our platform.

Quick Summary:

  • ✅ Obtain consents from both individuals and upload to each chart.

  • ✅ Link accounts to indicate a relationship.

  • ✅ Book sessions under the paying client’s account.

  • ✅ Ensure both clients have individual Ruh Care accounts.

  • ✅ Document session notes in the paying client’s chart.

  • ✅ Superbill (if applicable) will generate from the paying client’s account.

📝 Consents and Documentation

Before starting couple’s work, informed consent must be obtained from both individuals. Each client should have a signed consent form uploaded to their individual chart. This ensures both parties understand the nature, limitations, and structure of couple’s therapy, including confidentiality considerations and record-keeping practices.

📂 Client Accounts and Linking

Each individual in the couple must have their own separate Ruh Care account. These accounts should be linked to indicate a relationship connection. This is important for documentation, record access, and account management.

📅 Booking Sessions and Charting

Sessions should be booked under the account of the individual who will be paying for the session. This is especially important when one party is using insurance benefits and needs a superbill generated for reimbursement.

The session note should also be documented in the chart of the paying client. This ensures the note aligns with the financial and billing records associated with that account.

If both individuals are paying privately and alternating payment, the session can be booked under whoever is paying that day — with the note and superbill tied to their account.
